EC Lab’s Director, Dr Rabih Bashroush, was invited to the UK Fibre Connectivity Forum reception at the Houses of Parliament to discuss some of the challenges and opportunities that face UK’s FTTX connectivity. The event took place on 21st March 2018. After the event, Dr Bashroush said: “Thanks to Lord Mendelsohn, Gavin Robinson MP, and other parliamentarians and experts (notably Askar Sheibani) for very informative discussions at the House of Commons regarding the state of the UK fibre connectivity.” Dr Bashroush added, “it was surprising to know that while the UK played an internationally leading role in data centres and fibre connectivity (with over 70 transatlantic and other sea cables landing in the UK), fibre to home connectivity lagged towards the bottom of the full fibre coverage league tables, with only 3% of homes and businesses connected to a full fibre line!”.
