EC Lab plays a key role in progressing a new Ecodesign legislation on servers and online storage devices

European member states have voted on a key piece of policy implementation to make Europe’s IT infrastructure more energy efficient for future generations, with EC Lab Director, Dr Rabih Bashroush, playing a key role.

On 17 September European policymakers meeting in Brussels voted to implement regulation (EU) No 617/2013 under Directive 2009/125/EC, which focuses on the Ecodesign requirements for servers and online data storage products.

Dr Bashroush was interviewed by Computer Weekly following the vote, discussing some of the hot debates that took place in the run up to the Monday vote.
